Recorded in New York, Teruo Nakamura’s Unicorn album is one of the gems of Japanese jazz. Issued on the Japanese Three Blind Mice label in 1973, it came and went without much regard from the American jazz community. Like many jazz musicians from Japan, Nakamura has been somewhat overlooked as being more of an imitator than that of a true contributor, its all relative we feel; because a dope record is a dope record. Nakamura would emerge a few years later with a hit that reached number 19 on the US Billboard Jazz Charts. Sit back and enjoy tracks from Unicorn on this Sunday Morning wherever you may be.
